GASP!!!!
Every year millions of people unpleasantly wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. I am not here to mainly discuss the physiology or the abundant treatments available to care for this problem. There are plenty of websites and blogs that can be accessed for that. And not to be underestimated is the discussion you should have with your physician if you wake up gasping often. He or she will be instrumental in the support needed. One more thing….as people all over the world become heavier this problem will continue to expand.
One common treatment is CPAP therapy. CPAP is an acronym for Continuous Positive Air Pressure and that is just what it does. The sleep apnea sufferer wears a mask at night that continually forces air into the lungs thus alleviating the gasping (hopefully). This does not sound like a very comfortable treatment but it is better than the alternative. After all breathing is kind of important.
You can imagine that after wearing that mask night after night, week after week that it can get rather messy. I have read several accounts of people actually getting sick because of contamination of masks or tubing. It’s unfortunate that something designed to help has the potential to cause harm.
There is a great, mess-free way to care for this. There is a product designed to use Enhanced Oxygen (aka Ozone) to sanitize your mask and tubing and prevent the unwanted infection that some have experienced. This device is called the SoClean CPAP Sanitizer.
Basically, the SoClean CPAP Sanitizer works by sending Enhanced Oxygen through the tubing in mask in a closed loop and while contained in a sealed box. This will destroy and bacteria or viral contamination, including MRSA. All you do is turn on the machine and walk away. Later that day you can pull out your freshly sanitized supplies and get a good, worry free night of sleep.
Here is what really got me interested in the product – I personally know and am friends with the inventor. He and I worked together for several years back in the late 90’s and we have stayed in touch. Back then Tim was always a thinker – pondering ways to improve equipment and procedures. Most of the time he was successful (Tim – If you are reading this do you remember plastic welding? That was innovative). Back then we did a lot of work with ozone for cleaning and sanitizing purposes. He saw the benefits of it in CPAP therapy and created the device. He is also a user of the device.
There is a lot of research and actual beneficial results with the sanitizer. Some people have expressed concern on the use of ozone, but the simple fact is that it all reverts to normal oxygen within a short period of time after the device finishes its cleaning cycle. In fact you will see that it smells clean.
So gasping in the middle of the night trying to breathe is not fun. In fact it is very worrisome. If you are one of those that needs support to care for this condition try reducing the stress by cleaning your equipment using the SoClean CPAP Sanitizer.
Through the night you will not hear a GASP…just a Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
